Lage und Kontext
The former Makro site on the border of Deurne and Wijnegem is given a new future under the name Ertbrugge District. The location has a special history: the first Belgian Makro opened here in April 1970. Today, work is underway on new economic activity and a broader future vision for the area.
Erreichbarkeit
The site is located on the Krijgsbaan, on the outskirts of Antwerp. Its connection to the regional road network supports accessibility for visitors, suppliers, and professional customers. Mobility is therefore an important part of the spatial study, where future functions and traffic flows are weighed together.
Nachhaltigkeit
Within further development, more efficient space utilization, greening, water infiltration, and energy solutions are being investigated. Meanwhile, temporary occupancy makes use of the existing real estate and limits long-term vacancy.
