A new name, a new future. Makro Lodelinsart will henceforth continue under the name Sart District.
Location and context
The former Makro site in Lodelinsart, a borough of Charleroi, is getting a new future. The approximately 10-hectare plot is located in the vicinity of the Chaussée de Bruxelles and the Marie Curie hospital. After Makro's closure in 2022, a phased redevelopment is now underway.
Accessibility
The site is located on Rue des Aulniats, in the urban environment of Charleroi. Its location near major traffic arteries and public transport supports the commercial redevelopment. The concrete access points and traffic organization will be aligned with further development.
Concept
The development proceeds in two steps. First, the existing Makro building will be re-purposed commercially with four shops. This will be followed by a broader redesign of the site and its surroundings. This way, the location can attract activity again while the long-term project is further elaborated.
